Ru ware (汝窑, rǔ yáo) is one of the five great kilns of the Song dynasty (960–1279) — the era when tea in China became a ritual rather than only a drink. What made Ru famous was the opposite of showy: a glaze so soft it looks almost wet, and a colour that shifts with the light instead of competing with it. Of the five kilns, it is the one later writers put first.

This set is Ru-style, not an antique. The glaze here is 米黄 (mǐ huáng, “rice-yellow”) — a warm beige reading of that old calm. It is pale enough to show you the real colour of the tea you pour, and warm enough to sit easily beside wood, linen, and everyday dishes.

You do not need any of this to use the set. 不必懂这些也能用好这套茶具。但在这层釉色背后，是近千年关于「少而精」的推敲——知道之后，手中的分量会有些不同。
